Adrian Bishop (Gloucestershire) – Nominated by the Rugby Football Union
Currently the Junior Committee Chair, he has contributed to the wellbeing of the club from the first time he visited in 1974. In 1987, while playing for the club, he took up responsibility for the club’s pitches when it relocated to the centre of Tewkesbury.
His duties and bond with the club extended when he became the right-hand man of Bram Lane, the Club Treasurer and ‘go-to’ person, for nearly all physical work on, or in, the club.
Despite the tragic loss of Bram and his son Christopher in the 2007 floods, Adrian courageously continued his close association with the club.
Adrian continues to serve on the management committee and is always working behind the scenes to ensure the club is operating at its highest standard.
Through his efforts and example, Adrian has brought to the club recognition by winning the ‘Whistler Referee’s Trophy (best county hosts)’ on a number of occasions.
The area where Adrian deserves special recognition is his commitment to junior rugby. Adrian has been a junior coach for the club for over 25 years and has been on the juniors’ management committee since it was formed, working tirelessly at linking the club into local schools.”
