A rare joint Torch Trophy Trust Award goes to John and Kay Price, who have been volunteers for over 50 years.
Both John and Kay have held a multitude of volunteer positions in sport, which has included stints as President, Chairman and Treasurer, and have played a vital part in many voluntary projects. Not happy with this, the pair co-founded a new governing body, Stoolball England, where they did everything from umpire games, coaching, developing new sports equipment to organising various events and competitions within the sport.
Their volunteer work is not only confined to Stoolball. They’ve also volunteered in athletics, football and rugby. Horsham Rugby Club has its own ground because John and Kay raised much of the money.
Both have used their immense experience to help the development of sport in the United Kingdom and are true pioneers within the world of grassroots sport.
