Described as a quiet and unassuming man, Michael Smalley’s impact on partially sighted football over the past 20 years has been immeasurable.
Michael began managing the Loughborough Lions Partially Sighted 5-a-side football squad in the early 1990’s and under his reign, the team has experienced huge success. This has included winning the 1st division 10 times, winning over five cup competitions and seeing players moving on to represent their country as partially Sighted Futsal players.
When he is not coaching, he also volunteers as a Treasurer of the Partially Sighted Football League, effectively helping the league at every level.
Having retired from his day job in 2014, Michael still remains as committed to the Loughborough Lions squad as ever, always demonstrating the same amount of passion and enthusiasm.
